Due to the increased activities of HM Revenue & Customs in making enquiries into
tax returns, this firm offers support, help and advice to those on the receiving
end of this unwelcome attention by the tax authorities.
|
This advice is not intended to replace that given by your accountant, but to provide
a second opinion, and in the majority of cases, active assistance as a specialist
agent for the taxpayer. We do not offer accountancy services, nor do not seek to
replace your accountant. However, accountants are finding themselves increasingly
unable to allocate resources to deal effectively with a tax enquiry, and may find
themselves either unwilling or unable to deal with some of the excesses of demands
made upon taxpayers by an over zealous case officer.
|
This is where we can help, by acting as your agent during the tax investigation,
we know where the Revenue’s legal powers extend, and also when they are overextended.
We provide opinions as to whether or not a demand is within legislative time limits,
whether or not the officer is legally obliged to demand information, where information
is to be produced, whether or not attendance at an interview is advisable, are the
taxpayer’s legal and privacy rights being breached and so forth. We will negotiate
on behalf of the taxpayer where this becomes necessary.
Once the investigation is concluded, then we withdraw from the taxpayer’s affairs.
